Nearly every single person has been impacted by cancer in their lifetime. Whether this may be a diagnosis to themselves or a loved one, cancer creates a scourge that no one deserves to experience.
When an adult suffers from a cancer diagnosis, it is a terrible thing — the symptoms, the treatments, and potential outcomes from this disease are truly daunting. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it is like a living nightmare to them and everyone in their life. Children are being robbed of their childhood from this disease. They may never be able to play the sport they love, ride a bike, drive a car, go to college, or accomplish their dreams. Cancer impacts their survival and their chances of living a long, healthy life.
In 2016, my wife Julie and I participated in a head-shaving event that raised over $100,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help fund research towards finding cures for childhood cancers. St. Baldrick’s Foundation is an organization that I have been involved with for many years and one that is near to my heart. This year, we are proud to be running another fundraiser but this time, PLM employees will also be participating in St. Baldrick’s signature head-shaving event at our yearly company-wide meeting in April. A group of PLM employees have volunteered to shave their heads bald to support awareness of the effects of childhood cancer.
We are reaching out to our friends, colleagues, and partners in the wood and insurance industries to join us in our campaign. The time to give towards the fight against childhood cancer is the day before you or a loved one is impacted, not after you experience the turmoil it brings you and those around you. Please take the time today to visit PLM’s Fundraising Page and start making an impact to this ongoing battle. PLM’s fundraising goals are not just to support cancer research, but we are also supporting the hope that one day we will find a cure that puts an end to childhood cancer. With the help of your donations, together, we can come one step closer to this goal.
