ABM Rebrands to Green Tree Risk Partners
Exciting news! ABM has been rebranded to be Green Tree Risk Partners. Green Tree Risk Partners operates as a wholesale brokerage and program business specialist serving the wood/forest products, logging, and building materials industries by providing Workers’ Compensation, Property, Casualty, Commercial Auto, Umbrella, and other coverages through partner carriers.
Originally opening in 2020 as Allied Building Material Agency (ABM), Green Tree Risk Partners and PLM remain your one stop for all wood-related business insurance needs, ensuring we can always offer our customers a complete and tailored program.
GTRP works closely with our broker partners, while also maintaining close relationships for PLM accounts with our Underwriters and Business Development staff, working to round out coverage and to ensure that policyholders have the most comprehensive insurance program in place in the event of a loss.
Why “Green Tree”?
While known as the first capital of the United States, the city of Philadelphia has also been called “the birthplace of American mutual insurance”, when the Philadelphia Contributionship was founded in 1752 by Benjamin Franklin. When directors voted to stop insuring properties with shade trees, some policyholders joined together in 1784 to serve citizens who didn’t believe this should disqualify their coverage. Thus, was born the Mutual Assurance Company for Insuring Houses from Loss by Fire, or as it was more commonly known: the Green Tree – and it lasted for well over 200 years!
Just as Green Tree found its niche tangential to the wood industry by insuring properties with trees, other mutual insurance carriers (like PLM founded by lumbermen in 1895) arose around the nation to serve the wood industry. Continuing in this insurance lineage and still headquartered in Philadelphia, Green Tree Risk Partners (formerly Allied Building Material Agency – ABM) was reopened as an insurance brokerage in 2020 after PLM’s affiliation with Indiana Lumbermens Mutual.
By offering innovative solutions to complex or particular insurance needs, GTRP and PLM remain your tough partners for a stronger wood industry.
