John is active in various charitable organizations within his community and beyond. He is the past president of the Central New Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America and remains active in the Boy Scouts of America, currently serving on the board of the Washington’s Crossing Council. He has been a long-time supporter of the St. Baldricks Foundation, and recently led a successful company-wide campaign in 2023 where he, his wife, and 17 PLM employees shaved their head for the cause and helped raise over $175,000. The campaign was St. Baldrick’s 15th largest event in the world in 2023. He has also led PLM in its yearly support of the United Way where, for the third year in a row, we have had 100% employee participation.
John has also been a strong supporter of both the insurance and wood-related industries throughout his career, and has served on multiple board of directors, including The Hardwood Federation, and previously the Investment committee for BLD Connection, an association of Midwest lumber dealers, and the investment committee of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealer Association (NLBMDA). John was previously recognized with the Chairman’s Award by NLBMDA for his service and contributions towards the mission of the association. John and PLM have been avid sponsors of various industry efforts meant to educate the public on the importance of the wood industry, including Real American Hardwoods, the Indiana Woods on Wheels bus, The National Forest Foundation’s Truth About Trees campaign, and the Forever Forest Exhibit at the Omaha Children’s Museum. PLM has also remained an advocate for the political work of various wood associations through PAC involvement.
