For the past 126 years, Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company’s (PLM) has served as a leader, not only in business, but in terms of charitable giving and volunteerism in the greater Philadelphia community and beyond. During our annual partnership with the United Way, our team comes together for a singular purpose – to participate in a month-long giving campaign in support of local charities and nonprofits. In 2021, our team made history with 100 percent employee participation in this campaign. In fact, PLM reached full participation just 10 days from the campaign’s launch with an average pledge of $485.
This phenomenal level of participation resulted in $80,000 in employee contributions for 167 donor choice organizations across the United States. These funds were matched by PLM and combined with donations from retirees and an additional $5,767.50 from fundraisers, raffles and events, we raised a total donation of more than $205,000 with all matched funds going to the Impact Fund of the United Way in areas of the country where PLM employees live.
