We’re very excited to unveil our latest video from our new blog series titled “Insights from the Top: 3 Questions with PLM Leaders.” Every month, we’ll feature a different member of our leadership team, offering their perspectives on industry trends and the crucial role PLM plays in addressing the needs of the wood niche.
In this month’s edition, we are joined by Rich Hall, SVP – Underwriting.
His number one priority is focusing on the IOT – “the internet of things.”
“Remote water sensors that would detect leaks, that would detect deficiencies in the flow of water and actually could shut all you shut off valves to shut off that water or prevent any type of damage or leaks. Motion sensors is another one where it would alert a business owner remotely of anybody coming on the premises that isn’t warranted to come on. Temperature sensors.
“Another big one, fairly simple, where if the temperatures elevate a building remotely, it contacts you there a foreman and owner to say, hey, you might want to take a look at this. There might be something wrong with the temperature. An example on the auto side would be telematics. I like to catch telematics, not in insurance terms, but from a client’s perspective,” he shares.
To him, these are the small differences that can make our clients profitable. It can identify training initiatives, bad habits that drivers have become accustomed to, or good habits where the owner can reward somebody for driving really well. It can also flag maintenance of vehicles or theft if a vehicle has been overturned.
As the internet continues to evolve, Hall “ loves seeing their challenges with today’s rapidly changing world and offering solutions to those clients…and what I’m really proud of is educating folks that are new to not only the insurance industry, but perhaps want to get in the wood industry. What I enjoy most about PLM and my job is the interaction with our client base.”
Rich Hall is a Philadelphia native who began his career insurance and has been with PLM for 20 years.
